Achievements (Since 2001)
- Established a forum that provides a clearinghouse for information and contacts in the border community;
- Deepened dialogue and collaboration between the United States and Canadian
governments, provinces, states and other partners on issues related to the border;
- Instituted semi-annual plenaries hosted every year since 2002;
- Created the following subcommittees to focus on specific areas of
concern: policy, technology, border infrastructure,
and trade and traffic data;
- Developed a bilingual website in 2004, which includes a
member directory, action plan, news, facts, conference
presentations, subcommittee information, library and
glossary;
- Developed a border crossing database (BCD) covering trade, traffic,
infrastructure and other information about all border crossings;
- Developed an online border map of all Canada-U.S. border
crossings;
- Developed a Border Infrastructure Flow Architecture (BIFA) to help guide inclusion of ITS and other technology into projects;
- Hosted two workshops on the topic of border data (2003 and 2008);
- Launched a semi-annual newsletter to keep members
informed of TBWG activities and other useful border-related
news.
